Challenging Google Keep: How I Redefined "Note-Taking" in One Week ​

Introduction: Why Do We Need Another Note-Taking App? ​

As a Product Manager, I have always been a heavy user of Google Keep. Its "sticky note wall" design is intuitive and efficient. But in recent years, I've increasingly felt a sense of "tool loneliness."

Keep is like a closed drawer; I throw my ideas in, and they just lie there quietly until they are forgotten.

In this era of AI and connectivity, notes shouldn't just be a carrier for Storage; they should be a carrier for Thinking and Connection.

So, I had a bold idea: What if Google Keep had a "Brain" and a "Social Circle"?

With the help of AntiGravity, a revolutionary AI collaboration tool, I turned this idea into reality in just 7 days. This is MuseNotes.

Core Differentiation: From "Private Warehouse" to "Public Garden" ​

The biggest difference between MuseNotes and Google Keep is that we broke the absolute boundary of "notes = privacy" and introduced the concepts of "Public Notes" and "Discovery."

1. The Social Attribute of Notes ​

In MuseNotes, you can set a note to "Public" with one click. This isn't just a share link; it lets the note enter the app's "Discovery" feed.

  • Design Philosophy: The value of knowledge lies in its flow.
  • Scenario: When you compile a "2025 Must-Read Book List" or a "React Performance Optimization Guide," in Keep, it's just your memo; in MuseNotes, it can be liked, bookmarked, and even Forked by the community.

2. Fork Mechanism ​

This is the feature I'm most proud of. Inspired by GitHub, we allow users to Fork others' public notes.

  • Pain Point: See a great note but can only copy-paste?
  • MuseNotes Solution: Click Fork, and that note becomes your private version. You can modify and annotate it, allowing knowledge to generate new value through "secondary creation" during transmission.

AI Empowerment: Giving Notes a "Brain" ​

Google Keep's search is great, but it doesn't understand what you wrote. MuseNotes attempts to understand every character.

Auto-Organization ​

With AntiGravity's help, we integrated Cloudflare Workers AI.

  • Auto-Tagging: When you write a paragraph about "coffee bean roasting," the AI automatically analyzes it and tags it with #Coffee, #LifeStyle, etc., in the background. You no longer need to maintain a tedious tag system manually.
  • Smart Summary: For long notes, AI automatically generates a one-sentence summary displayed in the card preview.

Design Philosophy: Not Just Useful, But "Sexy" ​

Google Keep's Material Design is classic but a bit dull. In MuseNotes, we pursue "Visual Delight."

1. Rejecting the "Tool Feel" ​

We used extensive Micro-interactions. Thanks to Framer Motion, every card expansion and sidebar collapse has a silky smooth physical rebound effect. We want users to feel a sense of flow at their fingertips when recording.

2. Immersive Typography ​

Unlike Keep's crowded layout, MuseNotes adopts more generous whitespace and Glassmorphism textures. We believe that a beautiful environment inspires better ideas.

Conclusion: AntiGravity — The PM's "Magic Pen" ​

As a PM, my biggest pain point in the past was the gap between "idea" and "implementation." I needed to write PRDs, tug-of-war with the dev team, and compromise on deadlines.
