Forking Notes
One of MuseNotes' most powerful features is the ability to Fork notes from the community. Similar to forking a repository on GitHub, this allows you to create your own personal copy of a public note.
How to Fork
- Discover: Go to the Discovery tab to browse public notes from other users.
- View: Click on a note card to view its details.
- Fork: Click the Fork Icon (looks like a branching path) in the action bar.
What Happens When You Fork?
- copy Created: A completely new note is created in your personal library.
- Amber Status: The fork icon turns Amber (700) to indicate you own a copy.
- Attribution: The note retains a reference to the original author, respecting their contribution.
- Edit Freely: You can now edit the title, body, and tags of your copy without affecting the original note.
Rules & Limits
- No Duplicates: You cannot fork the same note twice.
- No Self-Forking: You cannot fork your own public notes (you already own them!).
