Reddit Promo: Manage Knowledge Like You Manage Code

Title: [Show HN/SideProject] I was tired of "Knowledge Silos", so I built a note-taking app with Forking and AI (MuseNotes)

Hi everyone,

I'm the developer of MuseNotes. As a heavy note-taker, I’ve always had a pain point: Our notes are isolated islands.

When we see a great article, we copy-paste it into Notionβ€”links break, formatting dies. When we see someone else's public notes, we can only "bookmark" them, but we can't truly build upon them, modify them, or make them our own.

This got me thinking: Why can the open-source community (GitHub) collaborate, fork, and improve code so efficiently, while knowledge management is still stuck in "silos"?

So I built MuseNotes. It's not an open-source project (yet), but it brings the "Open Source Philosophy" to your knowledge base.

πŸš€ The Core Features: Connection & Intelligence

MuseNotes isn't just a record-keeping tool; it's a dynamic knowledge hub.

1. You Can "Fork" Notes

This is the killer feature. When you explore the public community and find a high-quality note (e.g., a "React Learning Guide"), you can directly Fork a copy into your own library.

  • You get a full copy to modify, annotate, and add your own understanding.
  • The system keeps the "Original Author" attribution, respecting the source of knowledge.
  • We even designed a specific Amber-700 (Coffee Color) Fork icon, symbolizing that knowledge is being "caffeinated" and processed.

2. AI-Powered Analysis (New!)

MuseNotes automatically analyzes your saved content.

  • Auto-Summarization: Get a concise TL;DR for long articles instantly.
  • Auto-Tagging: AI automatically generates relevant tags, keeping your library organized without manual effort.

3. Never Lose Context: Source URL Display

For the detail-obsessed: Source URL Tracking. When you clip or copy content from the web, MuseNotes automatically preserves the original source link in a prominent, pill-shaped badge at the top. One click to trace back to the source. No more "Where did this quote come from?" moments.

4. Open API & Developer First

I know many of you love to tinker. MuseNotes provides a full Open API. Want to use a Python script to auto-generate weekly reports? Want to use iOS Shortcuts to quickly capture fleeting thoughts? Here are the keys, have fun.

πŸ› οΈ The Tech (For the curious)

  • Backend: Cloudflare Workers (Hono) + D1 Database (Edge computing, blazing fast, 0ms cold start)
  • Frontend: React + TailwindCSS + Shadcn/ui
  • Design: Minimalist, clean, and distraction-free.

πŸ‘‹ Invite to Try

MuseNotes is free to try. The latest version includes optimized mobile layouts and the new Source URL tracking.

If you are also a "Note-taking Perfectionist" or believe in "Connected Knowledge", I'd love for you to try it out and give me some feedback!
